مقدمه: ناباروری مشکل پزشکی مهمی محسوب و تقریبا در 15% از زوجین دیده می­شود. نقش مهم عوامل ژنتیکی در ناباروری بطور فزاینده­ای شناسایی گردیده است. در سال­های اخیر، اهمیت ارزش انجام آزمایش کاریوتایپ در زوجین نابارور توصیه گردیده است.
هدف: قصد از انجام این مطالعه، تعیین ناهنجاری­های کروموزومی در بین خانم­های نابارور ایرانی بوده است.
مواد و روش­ها: در این مطالعه 21 ساله گذشته­نگر، برای اولین بار 896 خانمی که به­دلیل ناباروری به گروه ژنتیک انستیتوکانسر ایران، بین سال­های         1986 تا 2006  مراجعه نموده بودند، مطالعه گردیدند. برای آزمایش کروموزومی، نمونه­های خون محیطی هپارینه، کشت داده شده و با روش نواری شکل بررسی گردیدند.
نتایج: از بین 896 بیمار، 710 نفر (79/24%) کاریوتایپ طبیعی، 48 نفر (5/37%) نشانگان ترنر و 45 نفر (5/03%) با جنسیت معکوس یعنی با کاریوتایپ 46,XY بودند. 93 نفر (10/36%) باقی مانده طیف وسیعی از ناهنجاری­های کروموزومی را نشان دادند.
نتیجه­گیری: نتایج ما نشان داد که روش­های سیتوژنتیک استاندارد اولین انتخاب برای بررسی ژنتیکی زنان نابارور می­باشد و می­تواند نشان­دهنده انواع زیادی از ناهنجاری­های کروموزومی باشد.
