پیشرفت‌های اخیر در سیستم‌های کشت سه‌بعدی برای فولیکول‌ها، تخمک‌ها و جنین­ها، نشان‌دهنده تحولی بنیادین در فناوری‌های کمک‌باروری و زیست‌شناسی تولیدمثل است. این پلتفرم‌های نوین با شبیه‌سازی دقیق‌تر محیط فیزیولوژیکی طبیعی در مقایسه با سیستم‌های دوبعدی متعارف، مستقیماً به محدودیت‌های حیاتی پروتکل‌های فعلی تولید آزمایشگاهی جنین می‌پردازند. این مرور جامع، طیف وسیعی از راهبردهای نوظهور سه‌بعدی شامل دستگاه‌های میکروفلوییدیک، شرایط کشت پویا، مدل‌های اسفروئیدی/ارگانوئیدی و سیستم‌های پیشرفته کشت مشترک با سلول‌های سوماتیک و بنیادی پشتیبان را بررسی می‌کند. شواهد فزاینده نشان می‌دهد که این فناوری‌ها (با حفظ ساختار سه‌بعدی فولیکولی و جنینی، بهبود تبادل مواد مغذی و گاز و بازیابی تعاملات حیاتی سلول-سلول و سلول-ماتریکس) به طور قابل توجهی نرخ بلوغ تخمک، شایستگی تکوینی جنین و پیامدهای کلی لقاح آزمایشگاهی را بهبود می‌بخشند. با این وجود، چالش‌هایی مانند بهینه‌سازی وابسته به گونه، مقیاس‌پذیری، هزینه‌های بالا و ضرورت استانداردسازی بالینی همچنان موانع مهمی محسوب می‌شوند. راهکارهای آینده برای غلبه بر این موانع شامل توسعه مواد زیستی هوشمند و پاسخگو به فیزیولوژی، تلفیق فناوری‌های پیشرفته مانند هوش مصنوعی و پلتفرم‌های ارگان-روی-چیپ، و ایجاد سیستم‌های مقرون‌به‌صرفه برای کاربرد گسترده است. این مرور بر پتانسیل تحول‌آفرین سیستم‌های کشت سه‌بعدی به عنوان یک رویکرد جدید اساسی در تحقیقات تولیدمثلی و درمان‌های ناباروری تأکید می‌کند.
