مقدمه: دیابت ملیتوس یکی از شایع ترین اختلالات متابولیسم می باشد و تقریبا 100میلیون نفر در جهان مبتلا می­باشند.
هدف: بررسی اثرات پالپ حنظل بر فاکتورهای اکسیدانی و آنتی اکسیدانی بیضه و اپی دیدیم در رت های دیابتی ناشی از استرپتوزوتوسین می­باشد.
موارد و روش­ها: 24 رت نر به 4 گروه تقسیم شدند: 1) N (نرمال) گروه، 2)N+C  گروه ،3)D  (دیابتی) گروه و 4) D+C گروه. گروه N وD ، ml 2 نرمال سالین به صورت دهانی از طریق گاواژ را به مدت دو هفته دریافت کردند و گروه N+C وD+C  به مدت دو هفته mg/kg 10 پودر پالپ حنظل را دریافت کردند. دیابت به وسیله تزریق درون صفاتی mg/kg 65 استرپتوزوتوسین ایجاد شد.
نتایج: گروه D یک افزایش معنی دار در غلظت هایH2O2  (هیدروژن پروکسید) و MDA (مالون دی مالون دی آلدئید) و فعالیت CAT (کاتالاز) و همچنین یک کاهش معنی دار در فعالیت  POD(پراکسیداز) در مقایسه با گروه N را دارد.
نتیجه گیری: پالپ حنظل در 2 هفته اثرات مفیدی بر تغییرات اکسیدانی و آنتی اکسیدانی در سیستم تولید رت ها دیابتی ناشی از استرپتوزوتوسین دارد.
